Why this applies to Bisoprolol

Bisoprolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Breadfruit interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension. Animal research shows that breadfruit leaf extract can decrease heart rate and weaken the force of heart muscle contractions, which may lower blood pressure.
Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDIURIL), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with bisoprolol and breadfruit. Bisoprolol is a beta blocker, so it already works by slowing your heart rate and easing your blood pressure down. In animal studies, breadfruit leaf extract seemed to do something similar, gently lowering heart rate and the strength of the heart's squeeze. Stack those two together and, in theory, the effects could add up and push your blood pressure or pulse a little too low.

To be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal work, not solid human studies. Eating breadfruit as food is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated leaf teas or extracts are the bigger question mark. If you notice dizziness, lightheadedness, unusual tiredness, or a very slow heartbeat, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
