In these combo cold and flu products, the piece that matters here is dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear it. Lab research suggests plumbagin, a compound in Ceylon Leadwort, may slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that could let dextromethorphan build up a bit, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or, rarely, restlessness or confusion.
I'll be honest with you though: this is only seen in test-tube studies, not in real people, so the concern is mostly theoretical. The acetaminophen and pseudoephedrine parts aren't really affected this way. Since this is short-term cold medicine, it's worth a quick check-in with your pharmacist before pairing them.

Here's the honest picture: this interaction is mostly theoretical. In a lab dish, plumbagin (a compound in Ceylon Leadwort) slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. The thing is, none of the three medicines in this combo cold product really lean on CYP1A2 to be cleared. Acetaminophen is handled mostly by other pathways, dextromethorphan goes through CYP2D6, and pseudoephedrine is mostly removed unchanged in your urine.
So in practice, I wouldn't expect Ceylon Leadwort to meaningfully change how this medicine works. The evidence here is weak (lab-only, never seen in people). I'd be more cautious about the leadwort itself, since plumbagin can irritate tissues in larger amounts. Run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, just to be safe.

This combination cold-and-flu product has three pieces, but the one that matters here is dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant). It's partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. A compound in Ceylon Leadwort, plumbagin, has slowed down that same enzyme in test-tube studies. In theory, that could let dextromethorphan build up a bit, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or a foggy, restless feeling.
Here's the reassuring part: this is only seen in lab studies, not in real people, so it's a maybe, not a known problem. The acetaminophen and pseudoephedrine pieces aren't really affected this way. The piece of this combo product that matters here is the acetaminophen (Tylenol). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2E1 to handle a small portion of acetaminophen, and a compound in Ceylon Leadwort called plumbagin has been shown to block that enzyme. In theory, blocking it could let more acetaminophen linger in your system. The dextromethorphan and pseudoephedrine parts aren't really affected by this pathway.
Here's the honest part: this comes only from lab (test-tube) studies, never from people, so it's a theoretical concern. Still, the CYP2E1 route is tied to acetaminophen's liver-stressing byproduct, so I wouldn't want you stacking high doses. Keep acetaminophen at recommended amounts, skip alcohol, and check with your pharmacist before pairing these.
