Ceylon Leadwort + Aspirin, Omeprazole
Aspirin, Omeprazole brand name: Yosprala.
Aspirin, Omeprazole falls into 3 drug categories that Ceylon Leadwort can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) in vitro.

These two interact in 3 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 3 Interactions?
Ceylon Leadwort interacts with whole categories of medication. Aspirin, Omeprazole falls into 3 of those categories, so it can interact with Ceylon Leadwort in 3 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
1 of 3Why this applies to Aspirin, Omeprazole
Aspirin, Omeprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for your Yosprala (the aspirin and omeprazole combo). One compound in Ceylon Leadwort, called plumbagin, has been shown in lab dish studies to slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. The aspirin part of your medication is partly handled by that enzyme, so in theory, blocking it could let aspirin levels nudge upward. With more aspirin around, you might see things like stomach upset, easier bruising or bleeding, or ringing in the ears.
I want to keep this in perspective though. This has only been seen in test tubes, never confirmed in people, so the real-world risk is likely small. Still, since aspirin already carries bleeding risk, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this supplement.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 3Aspirin, Omeprazole also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version on combining Ceylon Leadwort with your Yosprala (the aspirin plus omeprazole pill). A compound in this plant, called plumbagin, has slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 in test-tube studies. That same enzyme plays a minor role in clearing omeprazole from your body. In theory, blocking it could let omeprazole levels drift up a bit, which might mean more headache, stomach upset, or diarrhea. The aspirin piece isn't really handled by this enzyme, so it's less of a concern.
I want to be honest: this is only lab and animal data, and it hasn't actually been seen in real people. So I wouldn't panic, but since this drug protects your heart and stomach, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before adding the supplement.

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
3 of 3Aspirin, Omeprazole also falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: your Yosprala contains aspirin, which is a blood thinner that keeps platelets from clumping together. Ceylon Leadwort may, on its own, also make platelets a little less sticky. Stack the two and you could, in theory, tip a bit further toward easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop.
The honest caveat is that this concern comes only from animal and lab studies, not from people, so it's far from proven. Still, since you're already taking aspirin daily to protect your heart, I'd play it safe. Don't change anything on your own, just run the supplement by your pharmacist or doctor first, and flag any unusual bruising or bleeding.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aspirin, Omeprazole page
“Yosprala pairs aspirin, a blood thinner, with omeprazole, an acid reducer whose job is to shield the stomach from that aspirin, so this list carries real weight and warrants genuine care. Of the 318 supplements and herbs on file, nine are rated major, and understanding those first matters more than reading the rest.”

- Skin conditions and wounds (applied to the skin)
- Joint pain and swelling
- Traditional 'metabolism-boosting' tonics
- Antimicrobial folk remedy
Ceylon Leadwort (Plumbago zeylanica) is a plant long used in Ayurvedic and other traditional medicine systems, mainly for digestion, skin problems, and pain. Solid human studies are lacking, and the plant contains plumbagin, a compound that can irritate skin and tissues and may be unsafe in larger amounts. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it in pregnancy.
