Why this applies to Ketamine

Ketamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2B6 (CYP2B6) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 2B6 (CYP2B6) in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2B6. Drugs that are metabolized by CYP2B6 include ketamine (Ketalar), phenobarbital, orphenadrine (Norflex), secobarbital (Seconal), and dexamethasone (Decadron).

Here's the short version: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2B6 to break down ketamine. Lab studies suggest that plumbagin, a compound in Ceylon Leadwort, can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, ketamine could clear more slowly and build up, meaning stronger and longer-lasting effects, things like deeper sedation, dizziness, confusion, a floaty or dreamlike feeling, and slower breathing.

The important caveat: this is only seen in test-tube research, never confirmed in actual people, so it stays theoretical for now. Still, ketamine is a serious medication usually given in a clinical setting. If you've been prescribed ketamine and use this supplement, please mention it to your doctor or pharmacist first.
