ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Lepirudin
Lepirudin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Lepirudin is a powerful injectable blood thinner. It works as a direct thrombin inhibitor, usually given in the hospital to people who can't safely use heparin. On its own it already raises your risk of bleeding, so anything that nudges that risk higher deserves attention.
Here's the concern: in animal studies, Ceylon Leadwort root extract slowed platelet clumping and made bleeding last longer. Stacked on top of Lepirudin, that could in theory add up to too much blood thinning, showing up as easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or harder-to-stop bleeding. This hasn't been proven in humans yet, so it's a cautionary flag, not a sure thing. Since Lepirudin is closely monitored in the hospital, please tell your care team before adding this supplement.

Ceylon Leadwort (Plumbago zeylanica) is a plant long used in Ayurvedic and other traditional medicine systems, mainly for digestion, skin problems, and pain.
