Theoretically, DHEA might increase the risk of psychiatric adverse events when used with antidepressants.
In a human case report, the use of a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) with DHEA caused a manic episode. Concern for this interaction may be greater in younger individuals with higher baseline DHEA levels.

Here's the gist for trazodone and DHEA: this is mostly a theoretical concern. Trazodone lifts serotonin to help with mood, and DHEA is a hormone the body can turn into testosterone and estrogen. Pairing them isn't about one blocking the other in your liver. Instead, the worry is that adding a hormone that can nudge mood on top of an antidepressant might tip some people toward agitation, racing thoughts, trouble sleeping, or in rare cases a manic-type high.

The evidence here is thin (mostly lab work plus a single case report with a different antidepressant), so I wouldn't panic. Still, if you take trazodone and want to try DHEA, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first, and watch for unusual mood swings or restlessness.

Trazodone also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the gist with DHEA and trazodone. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down trazodone and clear it from your body. There's some early, anecdotal evidence that DHEA may slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happens, trazodone could clear more slowly and build up a little, which might make its usual effects stronger, things like drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, or feeling lightheaded when you stand up.

That said, this is mostly theoretical, and we honestly don't know how much it matters in real life. Trazodone isn't a prodrug, so the worry is more sedation, not less benefit. I wouldn't panic, but do mention to your pharmacist or doctor that you're taking DHEA so they can keep an eye on how you feel.
