Febuxostat falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Epistane interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use might have additive adverse hepatotoxic effects.
Epistane is an anabolic androgenic steroid, and more specifically a 17-alpha-alkylated androgen. Therefore, there is concern that epistane has hepatotoxic effects. Also, epistane is structurally similar to epitiostanol, which has been associated with hepatotixicity in a case series of four patients.

Here's the main concern with pairing these two: both can be tough on your liver. Epistane is a methylated anabolic steroid that's well known to stress liver cells. Febuxostat, your gout medicine, also carries a liver warning, and doctors sometimes check liver enzymes while you're on it. Putting them together could, in theory, add up to more liver strain than either one alone.

To be fair, this is a theoretical caution based on how each drug behaves, not on hard studies of the two combined. Still, watch for warning signs like unusual tiredness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or pain in the upper right belly. Honestly, epistane is risky and illegal to sell as a supplement, so please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing it with anything.

Epistane is a synthetic anabolic steroid (a methylated 'designer steroid'), not a true dietary supplement or herb, even though it has been sold as a 'prohormone.' It is liver-toxic, can disrupt your natural hormones, and is illegal to sell as a supplement in the US under the Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act. We strongly recommend avoiding it and talking with a doctor or pharmacist.

About Febuxostat

What Is Febuxostat Used For?

Brand name: Uloric

Febuxostat (available as tablets and a dissolving oral film) is used to chronically manage hyperuricemia — high uric acid levels in the blood — in adults with gout. It is specifically for people who have not responded adequately to the highest tolerated dose of allopurinol, who cannot tolerate allopurinol, or for whom allopurinol is not appropriate.

Important limitation: febuxostat is not recommended for people who have high uric acid but no gout symptoms (asymptomatic hyperuricemia). It is also not recommended for patients whose high uric acid is caused by other conditions such as cancer treatment or Lesch-Nyhan syndrome.
