Epistane + Testosterone
Testosterone brand names: Intrinsa, Testim, Androgel, Andropatch, Testogel, and others.
Epistane has a moderate interaction with Testosterone. Theoretically, concomitant use might have additive adverse hepatotoxic effects.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Testosterone
Testosterone falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Epistane interacts with.
Epistane is an anabolic androgenic steroid, and more specifically a 17-alpha-alkylated androgen. Therefore, there is concern that epistane has hepatotoxic effects. Also, epistane is structurally similar to epitiostanol, which has been associated with hepatotixicity in a case series of four patients.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: stacking epistane with prescription testosterone means you're putting two things into your body that can stress your liver at the same time. Epistane is a methylated (17-alpha-alkylated) designer steroid that's known to be hard on the liver. The worry is an additive strain, where one plus one is harder on your liver than either alone.
To be fair, this concern is theoretical and based on how these compounds behave, not on solid studies of the two together. Still, watch for signs like unusual tiredness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or pain in the upper-right belly. On top of that, doubling up on male hormones can throw off your own hormone balance. Please don't start or stop anything on your own. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

Questions About Epistane or Testosterone
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Epistane or Testosterone, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Testosterone
This page covers Epistane only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Testosterone page lists 170 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Beer (major), Grapefruit (major), Siberian Cocklebur (major), St. John's Wort (major) and Wine (major).
By severity: 5 major · 129 moderate · 36 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Testosterone page
“The supplement list for testosterone therapy (Androgel, Testim, Nebido, and others) deserves real attention, mainly because five of its 170 entries are rated major and four of those are everyday items: grapefruit, St. John's wort, and alcohol in the form of beer or wine.”

About Epistane
What is Epistane?
- Building muscle mass
- Increasing strength
- Cutting or losing body fat
- Bodybuilding cycles
Epistane is a synthetic anabolic steroid (a methylated 'designer steroid'), not a true dietary supplement or herb, even though it has been sold as a 'prohormone.' It is liver-toxic, can disrupt your natural hormones, and is illegal to sell as a supplement in the US under the Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act. We strongly recommend avoiding it and talking with a doctor or pharmacist.
About Testosterone
What Is Testosterone Used For?
Brand names: Intrinsa, Testim, Androgel, Andropatch, Testogel, Nebido, Delatestryl, Natesto, Vogelxo
Testosterone products are used as replacement therapy in men with low or absent natural testosterone. This is called hypogonadism (the body doesn't make enough testosterone).
Labels list two types: primary hypogonadism (a problem in the testicles) and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (a problem with the brain's pituitary or hypothalamus signals). Some labels, such as Testopel pellets, also mention helping start puberty in carefully selected males with clearly delayed puberty.
