Theoretically, taking lithium supplements with ACEIs might increase levels and adverse effects of lithium.
Concomitant administration of ACEIs with lithium may increase lithium concentrations. It is unclear if this interaction would be clinically significant with the smaller doses found in lithium supplements.

Here's the gist: blood pressure pills like benazepril (Lotensin) can make your kidneys hold onto lithium instead of clearing it out. When that happens, lithium can build up in your body. Even though this is mostly a theoretical concern based on how these drugs work, it's worth knowing about.

The catch is that lithium has a narrow safety window, so a little extra can matter. Signs of too much lithium include nausea, shakiness, unusual tiredness, slurred speech, or feeling off balance. With the tiny amounts in supplements like lithium orotate, a problem is far less likely than with prescription lithium, but the dosing is unreliable. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two, and don't change your benazepril on your own.

Benazepril — sold as Lotensin and under its generic names Benazepril and Benazepril Hydrochloride — is approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious events like stroke and heart attack.

It can be used on its own or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when blood pressure needs more control. Because high blood pressure management is part of overall heart health, your doctor may also address cholesterol, blood sugar, and lifestyle factors alongside this medication.
