ADO-Trastuzumab Emtansine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.

Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.

Here's the honest picture with moringa and Kadcyla (ado-trastuzumab emtansine). Part of this medication releases a potent cell-killing payload that the body partly clears through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In test-tube studies, moringa has gone both directions: sometimes it appears to slow that enzyme down, and sometimes it appears to speed it up. So in theory it could nudge your Kadcyla levels up (more side effects like low blood counts, liver irritation, nausea, or nerve tingling) or down (less benefit against the cancer). We just can't predict which.

The key word is theoretical. This concern comes from lab data, not real patients, and one human study with another drug showed no change. Still, because this is serious cancer treatment, please run any moringa use by your oncology team or pharmacist first.

What Is Ado-trastuzumab Emtansine Injection Used For?

Brand name: Kadcyla

Kadcyla (ado-trastuzumab emtansine) is used to treat two types of HER2-positive breast cancer. In metastatic breast cancer — cancer that has spread to other parts of the body — it is used when patients have already received trastuzumab and a taxane chemotherapy, either together or separately.

Kadcyla is also used as an adjuvant (post-surgery) treatment for HER2-positive early breast cancer in patients who still had remaining invasive cancer after receiving neoadjuvant (pre-surgery) taxane- and trastuzumab-based treatment. Patients must be selected based on an FDA-authorized HER2 test before starting Kadcyla.
