Here's the gist for your birth control pill (the ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel combo). The estrogen in it can gently slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which happens to be the same enzyme your body uses to clear caffeine. So when you sip oolong tea while on the pill, that caffeine may hang around a bit longer than usual.

In real life, that can mean the caffeine hits a little harder: think jitteriness, a racing heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling wired. This is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not strong proof, and a cup or two of oolong is usually no big deal. Your pill still works fine. If you notice caffeine bothering you more than before, just ease back on it or chat with your pharmacist.
