Here's the gist with Puravive and atenolol. Puravive contains quercetin, a plant compound that, in one small study, nudged blood pressure down a little in people with mild hypertension. Since atenolol already lowers your blood pressure and slows your heart rate, the worry is simply that the two together could push your numbers down a touch more than expected.

To be clear, this is a theoretical, minor concern based on weak evidence, not something that happens to most people. What Is Atenolol Used For?

Brand names: Tenormin, Atenix

Atenolol tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina pectoris (chest pain caused by narrowed coronary arteries). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. Long-term use helps manage chronic chest pain.

Atenolol is also used in hemodynamically stable patients with a definite or suspected acute heart attack (myocardial infarction) to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death. Treatment is started as soon as the patient's condition allows, typically in a hospital setting.
