These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Puravive interacts with whole categories of medication. Chlorpheniramine Polistirex, Codeine Polistirex falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Puravive in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Minor).
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
1 of 2Why this applies to Chlorpheniramine Polistirex, Codeine Polistirex
Chlorpheniramine Polistirex, Codeine Polistirex falls under Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates — the group Puravive interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here is a wrinkle worth knowing about Tuzistra XR. The codeine part is actually a prodrug, meaning it does very little on its own. Your body relies on the CYP2D6 enzyme to convert codeine into morphine, which is what actually relieves cough and pain. Puravive contains Panax ginseng, which one study suggests may slow CYP2D6 by a small amount (around 6%).
So in theory, slowing that enzyme could mean slightly less morphine is made, and a touch less relief, rather than more side effects. Honestly, this is a minor, shaky interaction. The evidence is weak, the effect is tiny, and studies do not even agree it happens. I would not lose sleep over it, but it is always smart to mention any supplement to your pharmacist or doctor.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
2 of 2Chlorpheniramine Polistirex, Codeine Polistirex also falls under Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the wrinkle with Tuzistra XR: the codeine part is actually a prodrug. Your body has to convert codeine into morphine to get the pain and cough relief, and that conversion mostly runs through a different enzyme (CYP2D6), not CYP3A4. The Panax ginseng in Puravive is flagged for nudging CYP3A4, which is more of a side route for codeine. So the practical effect here is fuzzy at best.
Honestly, the evidence is weak and the studies even contradict each other, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. That said, codeine carries real risks like deep drowsiness, slowed breathing, and constipation, and the chlorpheniramine adds its own sleepiness. If you do try Puravive, give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up first so they can keep an eye on you.

About Puravive
What is Puravive?
- Weight management
- Metabolism support
- Energy levels
- General wellness
- Stress and brain health
Puravive is a branded, multi-ingredient capsule marketed mainly for weight loss by claiming to boost brown fat activity, but there is no published, independent clinical research showing the product itself works for this purpose. Some individual ingredients have been studied in laboratory or small human studies, but those results do not prove the finished blend is safe or effective. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you have health conditions or take medications.
