Flurbiprofen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Red Clover interacts with.

Theoretically, red clover might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9; however, a small clinical study found no effect.
In vitro evidence suggests that red clover might inhibit CYP2C9. However, a clinical study in healthy postmenopausal individuals shows that taking red clover capsules standardized to contain 60 mg isoflavones twice daily for 14 days does not affect the pharmacokinetics of tolbutamide, a CYP2C9 probe substrate.

Here's the gist: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to break down flurbiprofen. In a test tube, red clover's plant estrogens looked like they might slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, flurbiprofen could clear more slowly and build up slightly, which in theory could nudge up the usual NSAID side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, or fluid retention.

The reassuring part is that this concern is mostly lab-based. When researchers actually tested red clover in people using a similar CYP2C9 drug, they saw no meaningful change. So for most folks this is a very minor, unlikely issue. Still, it's smart to mention any supplements to your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Flurbiprofen tablets (sold as Flurbiprofen and Lurbiro) are used to relieve the pain, swelling, and stiffness of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Flurbiprofen Sodium eye drops are a separate product used during eye surgery — specifically to keep the pupil from constricting (getting smaller) while the procedure is underway. This use applies only to the ophthalmic (eye drop) form.
