Estradiol, Medroxyprogesterone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Uva Ursi interacts with.

Theoretically, uva ursi may decrease the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro, uva ursi appears to inhibit CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Your Divitren combines estradiol and medroxyprogesterone, two hormones that your liver clears partly through an enzyme called CYP3A4. In a lab dish, uva ursi appears to slow that enzyme down. If the same thing happened in the body, these hormones could clear a little more slowly and build up slightly, which might mean more of their usual side effects like breast tenderness, bloating, nausea, headaches, or spotting.

The key thing to know: this has only been seen in test tubes, not in real people, so it's very much a theoretical concern. Short-term uva ursi at typical amounts is unlikely to cause a noticeable problem. Still, since uva ursi can be hard on the liver, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

In vitro, uva ursi appears to inhibit the multi-drug transporter protein, P-glycoprotein. This effect has not been reported in humans.

If you take Divitren (estradiol plus medroxyprogesterone) and you're thinking about uva ursi, here's the honest picture. Uva ursi has been shown to block a transporter called P-glycoprotein, but only in a test tube. That same effect has never actually been seen in people, so this is more of a theoretical concern than a real-world problem.

In theory, blocking that transporter could let slightly more of your hormone stay in your body, which might nudge up side effects like breast tenderness, bloating, nausea, or spotting. Honestly, though, the evidence is weak and the risk is rated minor. Keep in mind uva ursi is meant for short-term use only because of liver concerns. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before combining them.
