L-glutamine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though it can cause gastrointestinal upset — belching, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain have been reported, especially at high doses (10–30 grams daily). Headache and dizziness can occur, and a small number of people with bipolar disorder taking up to 4 grams daily have experienced mania or hypomania.

If you have kidney or liver disease, you should only use glutamine under medical supervision. Soy lecithin is generally well tolerated but can cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloating, and nausea, and may trigger allergic skin reactions in people with egg or soy allergies.
