Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: pseudoephedrine (Efidac 24) is itself a stimulant. It works by revving up your body's 'fight or flight' system, which can bump up your heart rate and blood pressure and sometimes cause jitteriness, a racing or pounding heartbeat, or trouble sleeping. 1,3-DMBA is thought to act in a very similar way.

So when you stack these two together, you're essentially doubling up on the same kind of stimulant effect. That could push your heart rate and blood pressure higher than either one alone. I'll be honest, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on animal data, not solid human studies. But since 1,3-DMBA is an unsafe, FDA-flagged ingredient on its own, I'd steer clear of it and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
