Lenalidomide falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has demonstrated immunosuppressant activity in animal research. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), corticosteroids (glucocorticoids), and others.

Here's the short version: Ceylon Leadwort contains plumbagin, and in lab and animal studies that compound has shown its own immune-dampening activity. Lenalidomide (Revlimid) works partly by tuning the immune system, so the worry is that adding another substance with immune effects could muddy the waters in ways nobody has actually measured in people yet.

I want to be honest with you: this is a theoretical concern based only on animal and test-tube data, not real human cases. We can't even say for sure which direction it would push things. Because Lenalidomide is a serious cancer medicine with carefully monitored effects on blood counts and your immune system, I'd play it safe and skip the supplement unless your oncologist or pharmacist clears it first.

Ceylon Leadwort (Plumbago zeylanica) is a plant long used in Ayurvedic and other traditional medicine systems, mainly for digestion, skin problems, and pain. Solid human studies are lacking, and the plant contains plumbagin, a compound that can irritate skin and tissues and may be unsafe in larger amounts. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it in pregnancy.

What Is Lenalidomide Used For?

Brand name: Revlimid

Lenalidomide capsules (brand names Revlimid and Lenalidomide) are used to treat several blood cancers and related conditions in adults. These include multiple myeloma (MM) — both in combination with dexamethasone and as maintenance therapy after a stem cell transplant — and transfusion-dependent anemia caused by low- or intermediate-1-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) linked to a specific chromosome change called deletion 5q.

Lenalidomide capsules are also used for mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) that has come back or stopped responding after at least two prior treatments (one of which included bortezomib). In combination with a rituximab product, they treat previously treated follicular lymphoma (FL) and previously treated marginal zone lymphoma (MZL). Lenalidomide is not approved for chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) outside of clinical trials.
