Linagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Ceylon leadwort root extract has been shown to both increase and decrease blood glucose levels in animal research. This effect has not yet been demonstrated in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might reduce or potentiate the effects of antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Medication dose adjustments may be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (Diabeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the honest picture with Ceylon Leadwort and your linagliptin (Tradjenta): in animal studies, this plant has pushed blood sugar both up and down. That's a mixed signal, and importantly it has never been shown in people. So we're really talking about a theoretical concern, not something proven.

Since linagliptin works to lower your blood sugar, the worry is that this supplement could either add to that effect or work against it. If your sugar drops too low, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, or confused. The practical move is simple: don't start it without checking with your pharmacist or doctor first, and if you do, watch your blood sugar readings more closely.
