These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Ceylon Leadwort interacts with whole categories of medication. Quetiapine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Ceylon Leadwort in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Quetiapine
Quetiapine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Ceylon Leadwort and your quetiapine (Seroquel). A compound in this plant called plumbagin slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 in test-tube studies. Quetiapine relies partly on that pathway to be cleared from your body, so in theory blocking it could let more quetiapine build up than usual.
If that happened, you might feel its effects more strongly, think drowsiness, dizziness, low blood pressure when standing, dry mouth, or a faster heartbeat. That said, this is only lab-based evidence and hasn't been seen in real patients, so I don't want to alarm you. Quetiapine actually leans more on a different enzyme (CYP3A4), which softens the concern. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't change your dose on your own.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Quetiapine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your body relies heavily on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down quetiapine. Ceylon Leadwort contains plumbagin, which has been shown to block that enzyme in lab tests. If that same blocking happened in your body, quetiapine could clear more slowly and build up to higher levels than expected.
Quetiapine is not a prodrug, so higher levels generally mean stronger effects and more side effects, things like heavy drowsiness, dizziness, low blood pressure when standing up, and a faster heartbeat. Here's the reassuring part: this concern comes only from test-tube research, not from real people, so it's theoretical right now. Still, since both can affect alertness, I'd run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Quetiapine page
“Quetiapine (Seroquel) treats schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, illnesses where an unplanned swing in the drug's blood level has real consequences, and that is why these 199 supplement interactions deserve a careful read rather than a shrug. Most of the risk runs through CYP3A4, the liver enzyme that clears quetiapine: grapefruit bloc…”
