Aprocitentan falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Epistane interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use might have additive adverse hepatotoxic effects.
Epistane is an anabolic androgenic steroid, and more specifically a 17-alpha-alkylated androgen. Therefore, there is concern that epistane has hepatotoxic effects. Also, epistane is structurally similar to epitiostanol, which has been associated with hepatotixicity in a case series of four patients.

Here's the concern with pairing these two. Aprocitentan (Tryvio) is a blood pressure medicine that already comes with a warning about possible liver strain, which is why doctors sometimes check liver enzymes while you're on it. Epistane is a methylated anabolic steroid that is notoriously hard on the liver. Put them together and you may be stacking two liver stressors, which could raise your risk of liver irritation showing up as fatigue, nausea, belly pain, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how each acts, not proven cases of the two together. Still, I'd steer clear of Epistane entirely (it's not a legit supplement and is illegal to sell here), and please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything with Tryvio.

What Is Aprocitentan Used For?

Brand name: Tryvio

Tryvio is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. It is specifically for people whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on other blood pressure medications — it is always used together with at least one other antihypertensive drug, not on its own.

Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack. Tryvio has not been studied as a standalone treatment and is not intended to replace other blood pressure medicines.
