Why this applies to Methamphetamine

Methamphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.

Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP2D6 and reduce metabolism of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2D6 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the basic idea with prescription methamphetamine (Desoxyn). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help break this stimulant down. Goji berry has been shown in test-tube studies to slow that enzyme. If it slows it in real life too, the medication could clear a bit more slowly and build up in your body, which might make stimulant effects feel stronger.

In plain terms, that could mean more of the usual things you'd expect from this drug: a racing or pounding heart, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge. I want to be honest though, this is only laboratory evidence and has not been shown in people, so it may not amount to much. Eating a few goji berries is unlikely to matter, but if you're using concentrated goji supplements or juice regularly, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
