Osimertinib Mesylate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the basic idea with Tagrisso (osimertinib). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break this medication down. Lab research hints that lentinan might rev up that enzyme a bit. If that happened in real life, your body could clear osimertinib a little faster, which in theory could lower its blood levels and make it work less well against your lung cancer. Osimertinib is not a prodrug, so faster clearance means less effect, not more.

I want to be honest about how thin this is. The signal comes only from test tube and animal studies, and it has never been seen in actual patients. Still, because this is cancer therapy where consistent levels matter, please loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before adding lentinan rather than starting it on your own.

About Osimertinib

What Is Osimertinib Used For?

Brand name: Tagrisso

Tagrisso is used to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors have specific EGFR mutations — either an exon 19 deletion or an exon 21 L858R mutation — confirmed by an FDA-approved test. It is used in several settings: after surgery to reduce the risk of cancer returning (adjuvant therapy), for locally advanced stage III NSCLC that has not progressed after chemoradiation, and as a first-line treatment for locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC (including in combination with pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy).

Tagrisso is also approved for adults with metastatic NSCLC that carries a specific resistance mutation called T790M, when the cancer has stopped responding to another EGFR-targeted therapy.
