ESTROGENS
Why this applies to Conjugated Estrogens, Methyltestosterone
Conjugated Estrogens, Methyltestosterone falls under ESTROGENS — the group Oolong Tea interacts with.
Oolong tea contains caffeine. Estrogen inhibits caffeine metabolism.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here the spotlight is really on the caffeine in your oolong tea, not the hormones themselves. The estrogen part of Premarin with Methyltestosterone can slow down the liver enzyme that clears caffeine from your body. That means caffeine can hang around longer and feel stronger than usual.
In plain terms, the same cup or two of tea may hit you harder. You might notice things like jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge. This isn't dangerous for most people, and it's based on limited evidence, but if you're caffeine-sensitive it's worth knowing. You don't need to give up tea, just pay attention to how you feel. If the jitters or sleep problems bother you, chat with your pharmacist or doctor about cutting back.
