Why this applies to Bortezomib

Bortezomib falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Ostarine interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of adverse hepatotoxic effects.
Some clinical research shows that ostarine can increase alanine aminotransferase, a marker of liver damage, in some patients. Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warns that supplements containing SARMs, such as ostarine, have been associated with reports of liver toxicity and there are at least two reports of drug-induced liver injury attributed to the use of ostarine.

Here's the concern in plain terms: both Ostarine and Bortezomib can be tough on your liver. Bortezomib treatment can already raise your liver enzymes and, rarely, cause more serious liver problems. Ostarine, which is an unapproved SARM, has its own track record of liver injury, including real-world reports of drug-induced liver damage and bumps in ALT (a liver marker). Stacking two liver stressors together may add up and make injury more likely.

This concern is theoretical, based on how each behaves rather than studies of the two combined. Still, with a serious cancer drug like Bortezomib, I wouldn't risk it. SARMs aren't recommended for anyone. Please talk with your oncologist or pharmacist before using Ostarine, and don't change your Bortezomib on your own.

What Is Bortezomib Used For?

Brand name: Velcade

Bortezomib is used to treat two types of cancer in adults: multiple myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow) and mantle cell lymphoma (a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma). These indications are shared across the available products — Velcade, Boruzu, and generic bortezomib formulations.

Velcade, Boruzu, and bortezomib injections are all approved for both conditions. Your care team will determine which product and treatment plan is right for your situation.
