Amphetamine Sulfate falls under Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates — the group Puravive interacts with.

Puravive contains Panax ginseng. Some research suggests that Panax ginseng might slow down the activity of an enzyme called CYP2D6 by about 6%. This enzyme plays a role in breaking down drugs in our system. One study (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32557706/) found that Panax ginseng slows down the breakdown of dextromethorphan, a drug that is processed by CYP2D6, but only to a small extent. It is important to note that not all studies agree on these effects, and some suggest that Panax ginseng might not have a significant impact on CYP2D6 at all. Nevertheless, it's important to be cautious if you're taking medications that are processed by CYP2D6 and consider discussing it with your healthcare provider.

Here's the gist for amphetamine sulfate (Benzedrine, Evekeo). One ingredient in Puravive, Panax ginseng, may slightly slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2D6, which is one of the pathways your body uses to clear amphetamine. If that enzyme works a little slower, a bit more amphetamine could hang around, which in theory might nudge up effects like a faster heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, reduced appetite, or feeling wound up.

That said, the effect seen in studies was tiny (around 6%), the evidence is weak and inconsistent, and amphetamine isn't a prodrug, so this is a minor, mostly theoretical concern. Still, since stimulants already raise heart rate and blood pressure, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this combo. Puravive contains Panax ginseng, which has shown mild stimulant-like effects in some studies. Your amphetamine (Benzedrine, Evekeo ODT) is already a strong stimulant, so stacking a second one on top could, in theory, nudge those stimulant effects up a notch. That might mean a little more jitteriness, a faster or pounding heartbeat, trouble sleeping, or feeling more wired than usual.

That said, the evidence here is weak and this is rated a minor, unlikely interaction. Most people won't notice anything dramatic. Still, since amphetamines already raise heart rate and blood pressure, it's worth running Puravive past your pharmacist or doctor first, especially if you have any heart concerns.
