Puravive and Dulaglutide

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Minor

Antidiabetes Drugs

Why this applies to Dulaglutide

Dulaglutide falls under Antidiabetes Drugs — the group Puravive interacts with.

Puravive contains Panax ginseng. Clinical studies indicate that Panax ginseng may lower blood sugar levels. One study (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25015735/) found that supplementation with Panax ginseng led to a significant decrease in post-meal glucose levels and an increase in post-meal insulin levels compared to a placebo. If you are taking medications that lower blood sugar, it's important to monitor your blood glucose levels closely when using Panax ginseng.
Severity Minor Likelihood Possible Evidence B

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the practical picture with Trulicity (dulaglutide). Puravive contains Panax ginseng, and some clinical research suggests ginseng can nudge blood sugar a little lower on its own. Since dulaglutide already works to bring your glucose down, stacking the two could add up and push your numbers lower than expected.

This is rated a minor interaction, so for most people it's not dramatic. Still, watch for signs of low blood sugar: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a fast heartbeat, or feeling foggy. If you check your sugar at home, keep a closer eye on it for a while after starting Puravive. Before adding this supplement, run it past your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, which raise the risk more.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Dulaglutide page

“Because dulaglutide (Trulicity) already lowers blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes, nearly every entry on this page deserves genuine respect, and one demands it outright. Almost all of these supplements pull glucose in one direction or the other, so the danger that matters most is hypoglycemia, blood sugar dropping too low.”

About Puravive

What is Puravive?

Puravive
  • Weight management
  • Metabolism support
  • Energy levels
  • General wellness
  • Stress and brain health

Puravive is a branded, multi-ingredient capsule marketed mainly for weight loss by claiming to boost brown fat activity, but there is no published, independent clinical research showing the product itself works for this purpose. Some individual ingredients have been studied in laboratory or small human studies, but those results do not prove the finished blend is safe or effective. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you have health conditions or take medications.
