Hydrochlorothiazide, Valsartan falls under Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates — the group Puravive interacts with.

Puravive contains quercetin, which has been shown in studies to mildly inhibit the CYP2C9 metabolizing enzyme. This inhibition could potentially increase the risk of side effects from drugs. A small clinical trial with healthy volunteers found that taking 500 mg of quercetin twice daily for 10 days before using diclofenac, a drug metabolized by CYP2C9, increased diclofenac plasma levels by 75% and extended its half-life by 32.5% (source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29168292/). Combining quercetin with drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 could increase the risk of side effects, so caution is advised.

Here's the gist with Diovan HCT (valsartan plus hydrochlorothiazide). Puravive contains quercetin, which can mildly slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. Valsartan is partly handled by that enzyme, so in theory blocking it could let a little more valsartan linger in your body. That would nudge its blood-pressure-lowering effect upward, which might show up as dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint, especially when you stand up quickly.

I'll be honest: this is a theoretical, mild concern. The evidence comes from a study using diclofenac, not valsartan, so we're reasoning by category here rather than from direct proof. It's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor, but it isn't a reason to panic. Don't change anything on your own.

Here's the simple version: your Diovan HCT (a combo of valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide) is already working to bring your blood pressure down. Puravive contains quercetin, which in one small study nudged blood pressure a little lower in people with mild high blood pressure. So in theory, pairing the two could add up and push your numbers a bit lower than expected.

This is a minor, theoretical concern, not a dangerous one. If your pressure does dip too low, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, or tired, especially when standing up quickly. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but it's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor before starting Puravive, and keep an eye on your home readings.
