Alprazolam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Uva Ursi interacts with.

Theoretically, uva ursi may decrease the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro, uva ursi appears to inhibit CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Xanax (alprazolam): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break it down and clear it out. In lab dish studies, uva ursi seemed to slow that same enzyme. If that were to happen in real life, less of your alprazolam would get cleared, so more could build up in your system. That could mean stronger or longer-lasting effects, things like extra drowsiness, dizziness, foggy thinking, or feeling unsteady on your feet.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This has only been seen in a test tube, never confirmed in people, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two, especially since uva ursi is meant only for short-term use.

Uva ursi is a traditional herb used mainly for urinary tract infections, and its leaves contain a compound called arbutin that may have antimicrobial effects in the urine. What Is Alprazolam Used For?

Brand names: Xanax, Niravam

Alprazolam treats generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia, in adults. These uses are supported across multiple alprazolam products, including tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, oral solution, and extended-release tablets.

Xanax (tablet) is indicated for the acute treatment of GAD and for panic disorder. Xanax XR (extended-release tablet) and alprazolam extended-release tablets are indicated specifically for panic disorder with or without agoraphobia — not for GAD. Alprazolam orally disintegrating tablets and alprazolam oral solution are indicated for both GAD and panic disorder.
