Lurasidone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Uva Ursi interacts with.

Theoretically, uva ursi may decrease the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro, uva ursi appears to inhibit CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: your body clears lurasidone (Latuda) using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, uva ursi seems to slow that same enzyme down. If that held true in people, less lurasidone would get broken down, so more could build up in your system. That can mean stronger side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, restlessness or muscle stiffness, and a feeling of being lightheaded when you stand up.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This has only been seen in test-tube research, never confirmed in actual patients, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, lurasidone already comes with strict warnings about CYP3A4 interactions, so I'd run any uva ursi use past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Uva ursi is a traditional herb used mainly for urinary tract infections, and its leaves contain a compound called arbutin that may have antimicrobial effects in the urine. What Is Lurasidone Used For?

Brand name: Latuda

Lurasidone hydrochloride tablets are approved to treat schizophrenia in adults and adolescents aged 13 to 17, and to treat depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder (bipolar depression) in adults and children aged 10 to 17. Latuda is one of the brand names under which lurasidone is available as a tablet.

For bipolar depression, lurasidone can be used on its own (monotherapy) in adults and pediatric patients aged 10 to 17, or used alongside lithium or valproate (adjunctive therapy) in adults.
