Liquid Chlorophyll Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Genestra Brands
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Liquid Chlorophyll against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: chlorophyllin, a semi-synthetic version of chlorophyll derived from plants. The liquid also includes glycerin, purified water, and sodium chloride as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence here is mixed and limited. Chlorophyllin is rated possibly ineffective for urinary odor.
For acne, cancer, constipation, flatulence, and low white blood cell count (leukopenia), we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works or doesn't. The research just isn't there yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chlorophyllin is generally well tolerated in the short term, but quality evidence and long-term safety data are limited — we simply don't know what happens with extended use. During pregnancy, there isn't enough reliable safety data, so it's best to avoid it.
The same goes for breastfeeding: safety is unknown, so skipping it is the safer choice. In case reports, oral chlorophyll has been linked to photosensitization and a condition called pseudoporphyria, which causes easily bruised, blistered skin, particularly on the hands.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check this product if you're on photosensitizing drugs (medications that make your skin sun-sensitive) — chlorophyllin may add to that effect and raise your sun-sensitivity risk. If you're unsure whether your medication fits this category, use the checker below or ask your pharmacist.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Liquid Chlorophyll might appeal to you if you're curious about plant-based wellness, but the evidence for its common claims is weak to absent. If you take any medication — especially one that increases sun sensitivity — talk to your pharmacist before adding this.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Avoid it for now.

Liquid Chlorophyll by Genestra Brands Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Genestra Brands Liquid Chlorophyll contains chlorophyllin, which has one documented interaction type we need to flag.
The main concern is with photosensitizing drugs (medications that make your skin more sensitive to sunlight). Chlorophyllin, a semi-synthetic form of chlorophyll, may add to that photosensitizing effect if you take both together, raising your risk of severe sun sensitivity.
