By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

L-glutamine is generally well tolerated by healthy adults. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal—belching, bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain, especially at higher doses.

A small number of people have reported dizziness or headache, and in rare cases, people with bipolar disorder have experienced mood changes; these resolved when the dose was lowered. If you have kidney or liver disease, use this supplement only under medical supervision.

Safety data during pregnancy and lactation is limited, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: seizure medications.
  • For scale: 50 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check your anticonvulsant medications (seizure drugs) with your doctor or pharmacist before taking TruGlutamine. Although the interaction is theoretical and hasn't been reported in patients, glutamine breaks down into a brain chemical that might theoretically work against how these medications function.
