That's the same general direction 1,3-DMBA pushes things, since it acts like a stimulant and can raise heart rate and blood pressure. Stacking two things that both rev up your cardiovascular system can add up, and you might notice a pounding heart, jitteriness, a headache, or higher blood pressure.

Honestly, my bigger concern is 1,3-DMBA itself. It's a banned, unproven ingredient the FDA treats as adulterated, and it carries real heart and stroke risks. The interaction data here is only theoretical and animal-based, but I'd steer clear of products containing it. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Theoretically, 1,3-DMBA might modestly increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that 1,3-DMBA weakly inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes.

Here's the lab-based concern with this combo. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant in Vicks Formula 44D). In test-tube studies, 1,3-DMBA acts as a weak blocker of that enzyme, so in theory dextromethorphan could build up a bit. That might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or a foggy, lightheaded feeling.

Honestly, the bigger worry here isn't the enzyme. 1,3-DMBA is a banned, unsafe stimulant that can raise heart rate and blood pressure, and phenylephrine is a decongestant that does the same thing. Stacking them could push your blood pressure up. I'd steer clear of any product with 1,3-DMBA and check with your pharmacist before combining.
