Amlodipine Besilate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), clarithromycin (Biaxin), indinavir (Crixivan), sildenafil (Viagra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist: your body relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down amlodipine (Istin) and clear it out. Ceylon Leadwort contains a compound called plumbagin that, in test-tube studies, slowed that same enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, amlodipine could build up a bit higher than usual.

Amlodipine is a blood pressure medicine, so more of it in your system could mean stronger effects like dizziness, flushing, headaches, ankle swelling, or feeling lightheaded when you stand. That said, this is only based on lab work, not actual people, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, since blood pressure matters, I'd run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.
