Cortisone Acetate falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has demonstrated immunosuppressant activity in animal research. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), corticosteroids (glucocorticoids), and others.

Cortisone acetate is a corticosteroid you take to calm down an overactive immune system and reduce inflammation, whether that's for an allergic flare, joint problems, or an autoimmune condition. Here's the wrinkle with Ceylon Leadwort: a compound in it called plumbagin has shown its own immune-dampening activity in lab and animal studies. The worry isn't that it cancels your medicine out, but that two things pushing on the immune system at once could add up in ways nobody has mapped in people.

To be honest, this is theoretical and based only on test-tube and animal work, so it's far from a proven, real-world problem. Still, since cortisone already affects your immune defenses, blood sugar, and mood, I'd loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than guessing.

Ceylon Leadwort (Plumbago zeylanica) is a plant long used in Ayurvedic and other traditional medicine systems, mainly for digestion, skin problems, and pain. Solid human studies are lacking, and the plant contains plumbagin, a compound that can irritate skin and tissues and may be unsafe in larger amounts.
