Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Riluzole
Riluzole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to break down and clear riluzole. Ceylon Leadwort contains a compound, plumbagin, that may block that very enzyme. If it slows the cleanup of riluzole, the drug could build up higher than expected. With more riluzole hanging around, you might notice more of its usual side effects, things like dizziness, tiredness, weakness, nausea, or numbness and tingling.
The important caveat: this is purely theoretical, seen only in lab studies and never reported in actual people. So I don't want you to panic. Still, riluzole already needs liver monitoring, so it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or neurologist before adding this supplement. Don't stop or change anything on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Riluzole page
“Riluzole (Rilutek, Tiglutik, Exservan) slows the progression of ALS, and it already works the liver hard, which is where this list turns genuinely serious. The four major-rated entries among 141 documented interactions cluster around two hazards: extra liver strain (Siberian cocklebur has caused liver failure, and heavy alcohol from be…”

- Digestive complaints and poor appetite
- Skin conditions and wounds (applied to the skin)
- Joint pain and swelling
- Traditional 'metabolism-boosting' tonics
- Antimicrobial folk remedy
Ceylon Leadwort (Plumbago zeylanica) is a plant long used in Ayurvedic and other traditional medicine systems, mainly for digestion, skin problems, and pain. Solid human studies are lacking, and the plant contains plumbagin, a compound that can irritate skin and tissues and may be unsafe in larger amounts. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it in pregnancy.
About Riluzole
What Is Riluzole Used For?
Brand names: Rilutek, Tiglutik, Exservan
Riluzole is approved to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) — the progressive neurological disease also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This indication is shared across all available riluzole products, including tablets (Rilutek, riluzole), the dissolving oral film (Exservan), and the oral suspension (Tiglutik).
Tiglutik oral suspension is notable in that it can also be given through a PEG-tube (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube) for patients who have difficulty swallowing.
