Omeprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the gist with DHEA and omeprazole. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear omeprazole, and some early lab hints suggest DHEA might slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened, omeprazole could build up slightly, which in theory could mean a little more of its usual effects or side effects, things like headache, nausea, gas, or loose stools.

Honestly, I wouldn't lose sleep over this one. The evidence here is anecdotal and theoretical, and the real-world importance simply isn't established. Omeprazole is also a pretty forgiving medication, not one where small shifts cause trouble. Still, if you're using both regularly, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you feel.

About Omeprazole

What Is Omeprazole Used For?

Brand names: Prilosec, Zegerid, Losec

Omeprazole is used to treat a range of conditions where stomach acid causes problems. These include heartburn and acid reflux (GERD), erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus from acid), and stomach or duodenal ulcers. It can also be used alongside antibiotics to help get rid of an H. pylori infection — a bacteria that causes ulcers.

In more serious cases, omeprazole is used to manage conditions where the stomach produces far too much acid, such as pathologic hypersecretory conditions (rare medical disorders that cause extreme acid overproduction). It is approved for adults and children one year of age and older for GERD and erosive esophagitis.
