Trazodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Fever Bark interacts with.

Theoretically, fever bark might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that yohimbine, a constituent of fever bark, inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity. The effects of fever bark itself are unclear.

Here's the basic idea with fever bark and trazodone. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to help break down trazodone. Fever bark contains a compound (yohimbine) that, at least in lab studies, can slow that enzyme down. If it slows in your body too, trazodone could clear out more slowly and build up a bit higher than expected. Trazodone isn't a prodrug, so more drug hanging around means stronger effects.

In real life, that could mean more drowsiness, dizziness, low blood pressure, or grogginess. I'll be honest though, this is only based on test-tube research, so we can't say how much fever bark actually does this in people. Fever bark has its own risks too, so please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Fever bark is the bark of the Australian tree Alstonia constricta, used in traditional medicine for fever, diarrhea, and infections.
