Hordenine is structurally similar to N-methyltyramine and synephrine, constituents in bitter orange known to have stimulant properties. Theoretically, taking hordenine with drugs with stimulant properties might increase the risk of hypertension and other adverse cardiovascular effects.
Some of these drugs include amphetamine, caffeine, methylphenidate, pseudoephedrine, and many others.

Here's the simple version: Pemoline is a stimulant that gently revs up your central nervous system. Hordenine, found in barley and some cacti supplements, also has mild stimulant-like activity in lab studies. The concern is that stacking two stimulants together could add up, potentially nudging your blood pressure and heart rate higher than either would alone. With Pemoline that might look like a racing or pounding heart, feeling jittery or wired, trouble sleeping, or an uncomfortable rise in blood pressure.

I'll be honest with you though: this caution is theoretical, based on how these compounds are built and behave, not on solid human studies. Pemoline isn't a prodrug, so this is about overlapping effects, not changed metabolism. Still, since both push in the same direction, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
