Armodafinil falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Hordenine interacts with.

Hordenine is structurally similar to N-methyltyramine and synephrine, constituents in bitter orange known to have stimulant properties. Theoretically, taking hordenine with drugs with stimulant properties might increase the risk of hypertension and other adverse cardiovascular effects.
Some of these drugs include amphetamine, caffeine, methylphenidate, pseudoephedrine, and many others.

Here's the simple version: armodafinil is already a wakefulness-promoting medication that can gently rev up your system, sometimes nudging up your heart rate and blood pressure or leaving you feeling jittery, anxious, or with a racing heart. Hordenine is marketed as a stimulant too, and in lab studies it looks like it may bump up norepinephrine, one of your body's 'fight-or-flight' messengers. Stack two stimulant-type substances together and you could see those effects add up.

The honest caveat: this concern is theoretical, based on how hordenine behaves in the lab rather than real human studies with armodafinil. Still, if you have any heart or blood pressure issues, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than guessing.

What Is Armodafinil Used For?

Brand name: Nuvigil

Armodafinil tablets (including the brand Nuvigil) are used to improve wakefulness in adults who have excessive sleepiness linked to one of three conditions: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), narcolepsy, or shift work disorder (SWD).

In obstructive sleep apnea, armodafinil treats the sleepiness itself — not the underlying airway obstruction. If CPAP (a breathing device worn during sleep) is the right treatment for you, your doctor should try that first before adding armodafinil for sleepiness.
