Hordenine is structurally similar to N-methyltyramine and synephrine, constituents in bitter orange known to have stimulant properties. Theoretically, taking hordenine with drugs with stimulant properties might increase the risk of hypertension and other adverse cardiovascular effects.
Some of these drugs include amphetamine, caffeine, methylphenidate, pseudoephedrine, and many others.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair. Solriamfetol (Sunosi) is already a wakefulness-promoting medication that nudges up dopamine and norepinephrine, the same kind of 'alertness' chemicals hordenine is thought to stir up. When you stack two stimulant-type substances together, their effects can pile on top of each other. So the realistic worry isn't that one cancels the other out, it's the opposite: a bit more of solriamfetol's known side effects, like a faster heart rate, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, anxiety, or trouble sleeping.

I'll be honest, this concern is theoretical and based on how these compounds behave, not on strong human studies, so don't panic. Still, since solriamfetol can already raise blood pressure on its own, I'd run hordenine by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you have any heart concerns.

What Is Solriamfetol Used For?

Brand name: Sunosi

Sunosi (solriamfetol) is approved to improve wakefulness in adults who experience excessive daytime sleepiness caused by narcolepsy or obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Important: Sunosi does not treat the airway obstruction that causes OSA. If you have OSA, you must continue your existing treatment — such as CPAP (a breathing machine worn at night) — throughout your time on Sunosi. Sunosi is not a replacement for those therapies.
