Why this applies to Clomipramine

Clomipramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Hordenine interacts with.

Hordenine weakly inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) enzymes in vitro. Theoretically, hordenine might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the gist for Anafranil (clomipramine): your body relies on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear this medication out. Hordenine has been shown, in test-tube studies only, to weakly slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that could let clomipramine build up a bit higher than usual, which might mean more of its typical side effects, things like a dry mouth, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, or a faster heartbeat.

That said, I don't want to overstate this. The evidence is lab-based and the effect looked weak, so for most people it's unlikely to cause real trouble. Still, clomipramine is a drug where levels matter, so it's worth running this combo by your pharmacist or doctor before adding hordenine.
