Tasimelteon falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory evidence suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 include amitriptyline (Elavil), haloperidol (Haldol), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), theophylline (Theo-Dur, others), verapamil (Calan, Isoptin, others), and others.

Here's the gist for Hetlioz (tasimelteon). Your body relies heavily on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to break this medication down. Lentinan, in laboratory studies, seems to speed up that enzyme. If that happened in real life, your body could clear tasimelteon faster than usual, leaving less of it around to do its job.

Since tasimelteon isn't a prodrug (it works as-is, not after being activated), faster breakdown would mean a weaker effect. In practice that could look like the medicine not helping your sleep-wake schedule as well. The important caveat: this is based only on lab evidence and hasn't actually been reported in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, mention any lentinan use to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how well your sleep treatment is working.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

What Is Tasimelteon Used For?

Brand names: Hetlioz, Hetlioz Lq

Tasimelteon capsules are approved to treat Non-24-Hour Sleep-Wake Disorder (Non-24) in adults. Non-24 is a condition where the body's internal clock does not align with the normal 24-hour day, causing sleep and wake times to shift continuously.

Hetlioz capsules are also approved to treat nighttime sleep disturbances in Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) in patients 16 years of age and older. Hetlioz LQ oral suspension is approved specifically for nighttime sleep disturbances in SMS in pediatric patients ages 3 to 15 years.
