Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, Rifampin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) INHIBITORS — the group Oolong Tea interacts with.
Oolong tea contains caffeine. Caffeine is metabolized by cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2),. Theoretically, drugs that inhibit CYP1A2 may decrease the clearance rate of caffeine from oolong tea and increase caffeine levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the key thing to know about this combo: the medication isn't the one building up, your caffeine is. One of the drugs in Rifater, isoniazid, can slow down the liver enzyme (CYP1A2) that normally clears caffeine out of your body. So the caffeine from your oolong tea may hang around longer than usual.
In real life, that can mean feeling jittery, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or being more wound up than the tea would usually make you. This is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not strong proof, so don't panic. A cup or two is unlikely to be a big deal for most people, but if you notice caffeine hitting harder, ease back and chat with your pharmacist or doctor.
