Clomipramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Uva Ursi interacts with.

Theoretically, uva ursi may decrease the metabolism of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro, uva ursi appears to inhibit cytochrome CYP2C19. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for clomipramine (Anafranil): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C19 to help break this medicine down. In lab tests (test tube only, not in real people), uva ursi seemed to slow that same enzyme. If that played out in the body, clomipramine could clear a little slower and build up, which might mean more of its usual side effects like drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, blurry vision, or feeling lightheaded when you stand.

I want to be honest though: this is only a theoretical concern from early research, not something proven in humans, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since uva ursi is meant only for short-term use, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two.

Here's the gist for clomipramine (Anafranil). Your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this medication. In lab studies (test tube only), uva ursi seemed to slow that enzyme down. If that were to happen in real life, clomipramine could build up a bit more than usual, which might mean stronger side effects like dry mouth, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, a faster heartbeat, or trouble urinating.

The important part: this has only been seen in the lab, never in actual people, so the real-world risk looks low. Still, since uva ursi can be hard on the liver and isn't meant for long-term use, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two. Don't change your clomipramine on your own.

Uva ursi is a traditional herb used mainly for urinary tract infections, and its leaves contain a compound called arbutin that may have antimicrobial effects in the urine. Clomipramine — sold as Anafranil and under the generic name Clomipramine Hydrochloride — is approved to treat obsessions and compulsions in people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This includes adults and children/adolescents ages 10 to 17.

To qualify for treatment, the obsessions or compulsions must cause significant distress, take up a lot of time, or noticeably interfere with work, school, or social life.
