L-Glutamine Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Hard Rhino
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking L-Glutamine against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This is a single-ingredient product: L-glutamine, an amino acid your body makes naturally and uses for immune function, gut health, and muscle recovery. Hard Rhino's powder form lets you control your dose.
There are no inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
L-Glutamine is rated Effective for sickle cell disease. It's rated Possibly Effective for HIV/AIDS-related wasting, postoperative (after-surgery) recovery, and critical illness from trauma.
For other uses, the evidence we hold doesn't establish effectiveness.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-Glutamine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults. Common side effects from oral use include belching, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, headache, cough, and gastrointestinal pain.
A few cases of dizziness and mania have been reported, though dizziness resolved when dose was lowered. If you have kidney or liver disease, use it only under medical supervision.
There isn't enough safety data to recommend supplement doses during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises it — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you.

L-Glutamine by Hard Rhino Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
L-Glutamine by Hard Rhino has one documented interaction concern: with anticonvulsant medications (drugs used to prevent seizures).
Glutamine is broken down in your body into glutamate, an excitatory brain chemical that theoretically might work against how anticonvulsants are supposed to calm nerve activity. The interaction hasn't been reported in actual patients yet, but it's a Moderate-level concern worth checking before you start.
