STIMULANT DRUGS
Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Pseudoephedrine, Triprolidine
Acetaminophen, Pseudoephedrine, Triprolidine falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group 1,3-dmba interacts with.
Animal research shows that 1,3-DMBA has stimulant effects, such as increasing blood pressure and heart rate.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about Actifed Plus ES: one of its ingredients, pseudoephedrine, is itself a stimulant decongestant. It already tends to nudge up your heart rate and blood pressure. 1,3-DMBA is also a stimulant, so stacking the two could add their effects together and put extra strain on your heart. You might notice a racing or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, headache, trouble sleeping, or a spike in blood pressure.
I'll be honest, this concern comes from animal and lab research, not solid human studies, so we can't say exactly how big the risk is. But 1,3-DMBA is a banned, unsafe ingredient with real heart and stroke worries, so I'd steer clear of it entirely and check with your pharmacist or doctor.
