CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES

Why this applies to Benzhydrocodone, Acetaminophen

Benzhydrocodone, Acetaminophen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group 1,3-dmba interacts with.

Theoretically, 1,3-DMBA might modestly increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that 1,3-DMBA weakly inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes.
Severity Minor Likelihood Possible Evidence D

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the wrinkle with Apadaz: benzhydrocodone is a prodrug, meaning your body has to convert it into hydrocodone (the part that actually relieves pain) using an enzyme called CYP2D6. Lab studies suggest 1,3-DMBA may weakly block that enzyme. In theory, that could slow the conversion and leave you with a little less pain relief than expected.

I'll be honest with you: this is based only on test-tube research, the effect looks mild, and it's rated minor. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. My bigger concern is 1,3-DMBA itself. It's a banned stimulant with real heart and stroke risks, and pairing any stimulant with an opioid is not a good idea. Please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
