Tramadol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the gist of it: tramadol is partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and some lab studies hint that bacopa might slow that enzyme down a little. If tramadol clears more slowly, a bit more could linger in your body. That could mean stronger side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, or constipation. At higher levels, opioids in general carry a small risk of slowed breathing, so it's worth being aware of.

That said, I don't want to overstate this. The evidence is theoretical, coming only from test-tube studies, and even those results disagree with each other. For most people this likely won't cause a noticeable problem. Still, since both can make you sleepy, it's smart to mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
