Esomeprazole Strontium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), clarithromycin (Biaxin), indinavir (Crixivan), sildenafil (Viagra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Esomeprazole (the active part of esomeprazole strontium) is a proton pump inhibitor you take to calm stomach acid for heartburn, reflux, or ulcers. Your liver clears it using a couple of enzymes, and CYP3A4 is one of them. Ceylon Leadwort contains plumbagin, which in lab dishes can slow CYP3A4 down. If that happened in the body, esomeprazole could clear a bit more slowly and build up slightly, which might bump up its acid-blocking effect or side effects like headache, gas, or stomach upset.

Here's the honest part: this is only test-tube evidence and has never actually been seen in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Esomeprazole also isn't a narrow-margin drug. Still, since Ceylon Leadwort can be harsh on its own, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
